Phantogram

Phantogram are an American electro-pop duo consisting of Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel. They released their debut album Eyelid Movies only a few months ago.

Phantogram primarily has a relaxing shoegaze-esque sound, but their rich melodies coupled with the beautiful sounds of a soft female voice gives them an uplifting sound that encompasses everything you need for a Sunday afternoon wind down.

Stand out songs from the album are When I'm Small, Mouthful of Diamonds, and Turn It Off. I for one am very excited to see what the future holds for this talented duo.

Everyone seems to have a blog these days, and after suggesting a lot of music to friends, I decided to dedicate a blog to it. Hopefully you will find something you like from my posts.

Isn't it funny how some songs represent your mood perfectly at a particular moment? I don't mean that in a deep, emotional level, but simply songs that reflect your thoughts at a point in time. Did you wake up with a spring in your step, or a melancholy disposition? I seemed to wake up this morning with a slight feeling of optimism, helped by these songs.

I'm really liking Cwtch at the moment. As I understand it, it is a development of Sal Boca/Dementio13, which I'll do a post on later. Disembark is my favourite at the moment. It builds slowly, with simple but very effective layers. The kicker for me is the synth line which melts every fibre of my being. Wanna Play also creeps underneath your skin. I didn't think much of it at first, but it grows on you.
